Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Beloved Titles

In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
